Greenbrier Valley Family Activity Center
The Greenbrier Valley Family Activity Center aims to improve the wellness and quality of life in the Greenbrier Valley. The Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation serves for the fiscal partner for this project. The 30,000 square foot facility will offer kids, families, and seniors a safe place to improve their health and wellness by offering year-round access to a gymnasium that supports baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, pickleball and an indoor track. Placement at Dick Gunnoe Memorial Park provides access to outdoor activities like swimming, fishing, basketball, tennis, and football.
The GVFAC will provide after school programs and activities in partnership with local organizations and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine to ensure our kids have a safe place to play and grow. We will work in partnership with local organizations to make healthy snacks available and space for youth recreation programs.
The facility also offers space for senior activities, family wellness and health coaching programs, indoor activities, as well as rentable space for private parties, classes, and gatherings.
Construction of the facility will be fully funded by private donors and grantmaking organizations, costing local residents and the City of WSS nothing to build. The facility will operate independently with operating expenses coming from annual fundraisers, facility rental fees, grants, and membership dues.
Residents will not be turned away from inability to pay. Based on income, the GVFAC Commission will offer financial assistance to those who need it to ensure access to the facility.
